Dennis Wise heavily slams Chelsea star after Southampton clash
Chelsea legend Dennis Wise has criticised Marcos Alonso’s
performance against Southampton today - claiming the Spaniard showed no
desire.
Chelsea came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at St Mary’s to pile more misery on Southampton, who remain in the relegation zone.

But at half time, with the score at 1-0, Wise was not best pleased with Alonso’s role in Saints’ opener from Dusan Tadic.
“We
were talking about the wing-backs and (David) Zappacosta gets sucked in
to a position, I think (Cesar) Azpilicueta is out of position,” Wise
said while working as a pundit on Sky Sports.
“What annoys me and frustrates me is Alonso’s attitude and where Southampton lost it and where they picked it up.

“He could have got himself back in position which could have helped the team and got them out of a sticky situation, where they had a one-on-one situation. But he showed no desire.”
Wise also thinks Alonso should have been sent off for a first-half tackle on Shane Long.
“That’s a red card,” he added.
“I’m a Chelsea boy but I have done one or two of them in my career and I should have gone.
“He
hasn’t even bothered with the ball. The frustration after that was that
(James) Ward-Prowse got booked because he realised what Alonso had done
to Long.
"He’s reacted to that, frustration, and he gets a yellow card.”
