Chelsea are yet to speak to Mateo Kovacic over his future at Stamford Bridge and the Blues have just seven days left to decide whether to keep the Madrid midfielder.

The Real Madrid star joined Chelsea on a season-long loan last summer and was a regular under Maurizio Sarri.

Despite an impending two-window transfer ban, Chelsea have the option of signing Kovacic as he’s already a registered player at the club.

However, they must do so by July 1st and Goal claim Chelsea are yet to make a decision over the midfielder’s future.

The Blues can sign Kovacic, extend his loan or allow him to return to Madrid. Zinedine Zidane deems the midfielder to be surplus to requirements and has his sights set on Manchester United ace Paul Pogba this summer.

But it remains to be seen whether Frank Lampard, Chelsea boss in the coming days, wants to keep Kovacic.
