Chelsea fans name the player Frank Lampard should make the next club captain

Frank Lampard is set to be the new head coach of Chelsea and he is going to have a few important decisions on his hands.

Chelsea goalkeeper is being seen as a contender to skipper the club

Of the decisions, one will be who to be the club skipper with Gary Cahill having left the Blues this summer as his contract ran out.

Cahill was with the club since 2012 and inherited the armband from long-term servant John Terry, becoming club captain for the past two years.

However, Cahill's game time dropped dramatically in Antonio Conte's second season and then he only featured in two Premier League matches under Maurizio Sarri, both as substitutes.

In that circumstance, vice-captain Cesar Azpilicueta took on the role as the captain on the pitch, and the majority of Blues supporters want him as the main man once again.

football.london conducted a poll on Twitter to ask Chelsea fans who they would want to lead out the team and from 3,190 votes, Azpilicueta got the nod from 61% of the voters.

David Luiz got 25% of the vote, with Willian getting 4% from the choices that were given.

There were also a strong contingent of fans who voted for Germany international Antonio Rudiger to get the armband on a permanent basis, while fans also went for Jorginho and Kepa.

Azpilicueta is the most likely candidate to be the next skipper, but Lampard will of course have his say on the matter and who should also be his assistant captain.
