Nine players who could leave Chelsea

It's been a turbulent season for the Blues and it seems like there might be a ruthless summer on the horizon

Chelsea look set for a massive summer overhaul of their squad after a disastrous campaign at Stamford Bridge.

The faltering champions' defence of their title hasn't been as bad as in 2016, but Antonio Conte's side have given up their crown without a whimper.

The loss to Tottenham - their first at home in 28-years - sums up their dismal season and even winning the FA Cup wouldn't have people calling their campaign as a success.

Changes are needed in west London, and given the likelihood Conte is to face the boot, according to the Telegraph , there are nine players who could follow him out the door. So, who are they?

Thibaut Courtois

The Belgian shotstopper has done nothing much to endear himself to the Chelsea faithful over the last few seasons, constantly flirting with a move away from the club whilst putting in a string of lacklustre performances.

Should he get his wish, Real Madrid or PSG could swoop for the 25-year-old who will be looking to play Champions League football next term - something his current side could be doing had he done his talking on the pitch rather than off it.

Gary Cahill

There were very few Chelsea fans happy with the news Gary Cahill would become their skipper in the wake of John Terry's departure, and his lack of game time this season suggests they weren't the only ones.

He's only made 21 Premier League appearances this season out of a possible 31 and has lost his place in the England setup.

Kurt Zouma

Kurt Zouma (loan)

The youngster has impressed on loan at Stoke, and despite their lowly league position, he's had some valuable Premier League experience, playing 28 times.

Chelsea rate him very highly, tying him down to a six-year contract in July last year, but the 23-year-old will want assurances of game time should he decide to stay at Stamford Bridge.

David Luiz

Luiz has been out of action with an alleged knee and ankle injury - but amidst reports the Brazilian fell out with Antonio Conte, it's not been surprising to see him not selected.

He's started just four games since the start of November, the last of which was the 4-1 loss to Watford, and with just one-year remaining on his current deal, his long-term future is in the balance.

Cesc Fabregas

He's looked tired, slow and a yard off the pace for much of the season and it wouldn't be a surprise if this season is his last in blue.

Fabregas still can offer a lot to a Premier League side, but alongside the diminutive N'Golo Kante, he just doesn't offer enough leaving his midfield partner to do running for two.
Another with a year left on his contract, Chelsea could cut their losses and cash in on the 30-year-old.

Eden Hazard

It's no surprise to see Eden Hazard's name on a list of Chelsea players who could be on their way out. Hazard, like fellow countryman Courtois, hasn't been shy when it comes to talking about his future.

He's clearly the Blues' best player when he wants to be but all too often he just doesn't show up when they need him. A huge offer could tempt the Chelsea hierarchy to part with their star man.

Pedro

Pedro Rodriguez

The former Barcelona winger has shown shades of brilliance throughout his career in west London, but he's not hit the heights expected of him.

With one-year left on his current deal, Chelsea will be looking to younger alternatives like Leon Bailey in the transfer market, with the 30-year-old likely to be flogged.

Olivier Giroud

When Chelsea signed Giroud in January, it looked like a desperate bid to help with their flailing chances of top-four and the Champions League.

The Frenchman has barely featured and will only have a year left on his contract meaning he could be sold to make way for some new blood.

Michy Batshuayi

Michy Batshuayi (loan)

Having become a revelation in Germany, Chelsea will be praying his form in the Bundesliga can be carried on into the Premier League next season.

Batshuayi is young and hungry and will not accept another season as second fiddle - and if he can perform like he has for Dortmund, there's no reason why he can't become first choice striker.

If not, he'll be sold and they'll no doubt regret this one in years to come - like the likes of Salah, De Bruyne and Lukaku.
