Frank Lampard wants Derby man to join him at Chelsea
Frank Lampard wants Derby’s Shay Given to rejoin his coaching team so he can improve the form of keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.
The retired Irish goalkeeper worked with Lampard last season at the East Midlands side and it is thought that the Chelsea legend wanted Given to move to London to be a part of his coaching team at Stamford Bridge.
However, the move was reportedly resisted by the Chelsea board who instead chose to promote Henrique Hilario to the role.
Given stayed at Derby to work under new manager Philippe Cocu but according to the Daily Mail, Lampard has not given up hope of luring the 43-year-old to the Blues.
Kepa has kept three clean sheets in 12 Premier League matches this season and although he has ousted David De Gea as Spain’s number one goalkeeper, there are concerns over his club form and his ability to keep out set pieces.
