Former Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri has revealed that he will not be joining Chelsea this summer, as he is taking a break from football.

The 51-year-old is a favorite to take over from Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge ahead of the new season.

Confirmation of Sarri's exit from Stamford Bridge to take over from Allegri at Juventus is expected imminently, meaning that the Blues will be on the lookout for their third manager in three seasons.

 
Club legend Frank Lamapard, who impressed in his managerial debut season at Derby County, is lso another clear favorite to take up the role. However, his inexperience in management could be a factor to concern the chiefs at Stamford Bridge.

Should they wish to go for a more experienced head, it seems that Allegri will now not be an option with the Italian revealing that he is not taking up a job anytime soon.

 
"I will take a year off to recharge the batteries and take my personal life back in hand," he told reporters, as reported by Goal.

Allegri was in charge of the Italian giants for five years, in that time he led the club to: Six Serie A titles, four Italian cups, two Italian super Cups and two Champions League finals.
