The Blues suffered yet another damaging blow to their hopes of finishing in the Champions League qualification spots last weekend when they were pegged back and held to a 1-1 draw by West Ham United at Stamford Bridge after a 'super-sub- finish from Mexican star Chicharito.

That result left Antonio Conte’s men in fifth place in the Premier League table and 10 points behind fourth-placed Spurs, with just six games left to play this season. Although, the The Lilywhites have thougher games still left on the fixture sheet it would still be a miracle for The Blues to be at a top four position.

Chelsea FC have struggled to produce consistent form in all competitions this season and they have been left playing for the FA Cup as they final hope of winning a trophy this term.

And former Liverpool FC star Lawrenson believes that the Blues have already had to accept that they will not be finishing in the top four under Antonio Conte this term.

Writing in his column for BBC Sport, Lawrenson said: “Chelsea dropped more points against West Ham last time out, and I think they realise now they are going to miss out on the top four.”

Chelsea FC won the Premier League title in style last term but have struggled to produce consistent form in Conte’s second campaign in charge.

They will try and reach the FA Cup final when they take on Southampton at Wembley in the last four later this month.
