Chelsea wants player transfer in order to keep Cesc Fabregas.

Antonio Conte is apparently going to sell Nemanja Matic to Manchester United so he can persuade Cesc Fabregas not to make a transfer away from Stamford Bridge.

Cesc Fabregas

This report from the mainstream media is that The Blues are working on a deal to sign Tiemoue Bakayoko from AS Monaco as Matic’s replacement, with Antonio Conte  favoring Fabregas over the Serbian in that part of the pitch permanently.

Conte usually starts Matic alongside N’Golo Kante, which he did for most of last season, and the pair proved to be an effective duo as the club marched to the Premier League title.

However, Fabregas was forced to impress from the bench, which he did and added a touch of creativity from the middle of the park in some very tight games, which now reports say has given him the edge over Matic, in his manager’s mind.

United have been recently linked with a move to sign Matic with Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford said to be very keen, and it now seems Conte is happy to accept selling him to a rival if it means keeping his Spanish playmaker Cesc Fabregas.

With a move for Bakayoko still not complete despite months of speculation, and the reports are saying the Italian hopes that pushing Matic out can help speed up the Frenchman’s arrival.
